The silk scarf is back.
Fashion will tell you this is news.
Grace Kelly might have smiled at that.
Because long before something became a trend, women understood the quiet power of a beautiful scarf.
Grace wore hers tied beneath her chin with enormous sunglasses, neat trousers and that extraordinary ability to make getting dressed look effortless.
And now, in 2026, we’re being told to wear them again.
Good.
But at Claiming Life, I think there is something far more interesting going on.
Maybe the scarf isn’t coming back.
Maybe we are.
Somewhere Along the Way, We Stopped Dressing for Ourselves
There was probably a version of you who once spent a little longer getting ready.
She wore the earrings.
She sprayed the perfume even when nobody important was going to see her.
She bought the ridiculous scarf because the colour made her happy.
Then life became busy.
Children. Work. Parents. Bills. Loss. Responsibilities. Other people’s needs.
And slowly, without making any conscious decision about it, practicality began winning.
The good handbag stayed in the cupboard.
The lipstick became something you wore “when you were going somewhere.”
And the silk scarf?
Probably pushed into the back of a drawer.
This Is Where Grace Kelly Comes In
I’m not suggesting we all begin wandering around the supermarket pretending we’re arriving in Monaco.
Although frankly, I wouldn’t object.
I’m suggesting something smaller.
Tomorrow morning, wear the scarf.
Not because Pinterest says scarves are trending.
Not because a fashion magazine says they’re back.
Wear it because you like yourself in it.
Tie it around your neck with jeans and a white shirt.
Wear it over your hair with enormous sunglasses.
Loop it through the handle of the handbag you keep saving for “good.”
Tie it around your waist.
Wear it with a blazer.
There are no rules.
That may actually be the point.
The Claiming Life Way
At Claiming Life, we aren’t particularly interested in becoming different women.
We’ve spent enough years doing that.
Better wife.
Better mother.
Better employee.
Thinner woman.
Younger-looking woman.
More organised woman.
More successful woman.
Enough.
This isn’t a makeover.
It’s a homecoming.
And sometimes coming home to yourself begins with something almost laughably small.
A scarf.
A perfume you stopped wearing.
The red lipstick you thought was “too much.”
The dress hanging in the wardrobe waiting for an occasion worthy of it.
Perhaps you are the occasion.
So Yes, The Silk Scarf Is Back
Fashion has rediscovered it.
Grace Kelly never needed to.
And perhaps neither did you.
Maybe yours has simply been waiting quietly in a drawer while you were busy living everybody else’s life.
Go and find it.
Tie it badly.
Put on your sunglasses.
Walk out the door.
And if anybody asks where you’re going?
You don’t need a particularly impressive answer.
You’re simply going back to yourself.
Upward, always.
